Used Hockey Equipment

Hockey equipment–even the stuff that’s been battered around for a couple of seasons–still has resale value and may be sold through sporting goods stores or online.

Regular hockey players change their gear nearly every year to keep up-to-date with changing trends and modifications and they sell their old equipment to players looking for a bargain. Online stores buy used gear from seasoned players at low rates and then, with a little repair and touch up, are able to sell the equipment for a profit.

Sticks, goal nets, helmets, shoes, shafts and skates are easy to sell, however, custom pieces, such as chest protectors, leg pads and gloves are not made in universal sizes, and may be a tougher sale. To make these and other used pieces more attractive to customers, stores will generally treat the equipment for odor and bacteria before sale. Make sure whatever body gear you get is treated this way, since other people’s germs are not something you would want being absorbed into your skin!

Because used hockey equipment is cheaper than the equipment sold in discount stores, a player can buy an entire set of equipment for as little as $300. Goalie gear will inevitably be more expensive, as goalies require much more body protection than the other players, since pucks rocket towards them often at speeds of over a hundred miles an hour.

When purchasing used equipment, it is wise to examine the goods for safety and functionality. Check the padding for tears and examine the skate blades for sharpness, since these generally wear out after a few uses. Players don’t have to spend a fortune to enjoy their favorite sport.

How To Use the Internet To Get Better At Disc Golf

Disc golf is a hobby that many people don’t even know about. It’s a sport that isn’t that popular although there are thousands of people that play. Since it doesn’t get much attention, at times it’s hard to find tools that help you get better at it since there are a lack of published books or videos that will teach you new techniques. Fortunately, there is a volume of information online that will help you improve your disc golf game if you know where to look.

Go to the manufacturers web sites and read about the various discs that are offered. Many times you will see a graphic with a flight path of certain discs. This gives you a way of being able to visualize how this disc will travel after it’s thrown. You can pick up discs here for certain shots that you might be having a hard time with.

Use video sites like YouTube and search for disc golf videos. There are hundreds that will show you new techniques on how to drive, throw, putt, and specifics on difficult shots.

Find forums on disc golf. It’s best to try to find one in your local area if you can. You can ask questions about the game and generally receive fairly good answers. It’s a good place to pick up random tips and techniques.

Read about new ways to throw the disc. Many intermediate players can’t become advanced players until mastering a wide variety of shots. If you have the right shot and the right disc, this is what lowers your overall score.

Search for new courses online for your area. You might have more than you think around you. This will give you a new place to practice as well as meet others who play. Some courses are harder than others which will give you more of a challenge thus helping you become a better player.
